I'd rather have the Atom.

But what’s the point of having one if you don’t live live next door to the Nurburgring? But I bet you’d have to spend a bunch of money to get something faster.

Nice to see the Corvette driver give the wave by. Twice! I was shocked when it went by after being passed early on.

There are better cars to own if you live next to the Nurburgring...but yeah, its a rare sight to see an Atom being driven to the max...

I’d definitely choose the Atom too. And I’m sure it would be more fun than a Corvette on mountain roads too, so no need to live next to the track.

Also, this reminds me that I still need to buy the pictures of me in the Twingo on the ‘Ring last September.

I’m about 35min from Sears Point, I’ve seen an Atom at the gas station near my place. A  guy I know from the MVPA just got a Lotus 7 copy, has a Ford engine in it.

Both of those cars absolutely terrify me. But what really impresses me is the vast majority of the drivers on track having the awareness of when a significantly faster car is coming up behind them, and all following the etiquette to move over to allow a pass—I’d be so concerned about getting the dozens upon dozens of blind turns correct that I’d have a hard time  splitting my attention with when to move off-line to let someone by.

This (as well as money) is why I will never drive the Green Hell.

That’s a thing about driving in Germany though. Ordinary drivers receive lots of training before they are licensed, and one of the things they’re taught is awareness by always looking in the rearview mirrors because on the Autobahn, there is a huge difference in speed and someone is apt to drive up your tailpipe at any time.

I believe you’d spend less money on the Atom and have a less dangerous car. But in the Z06, you can roll up the windows when it rains...

I like it because it’s less car . A Honda V6, super lightweight. But I think I’d really want it to have a shell to keep the wind off me when I drove it.

Indeed. I live in the Bay Area and I’d drive the Atom up to the Sierra on the weekends.

Best ring video I’ve seen in a while, best Atom video I’ve seen in a while.

Also enjoy trying to identify the other cars getting passed.

I only wish I had an indication of the Atom’s speed. Otherwise, best and best. I think the Z06 driver knew his limitations and the Atom driver had # skills.

I’ve had it out with some motorcyclists here on Oppo about lane splitting. They whine that the problem is because drivers of cars aren’t noticing motorcycles and a large difference in speed coming out of nowhere from drivers’ blind spots. Drivers aren’t paying attention, the bikers say. Drivers aren’t trained to, I say.

Z06 kept up pretty well at least in the beginning.  It doesn’t seem like the Atom was THAT badly delayed by traffic when the Z caught up.  But Atom driver clearly had mad skills.

Atom driver had skills, and I suspect Z06 did not, and knew it. I suspect that the Atom is fairly well balanced to take full advantage of the power it has, while the Z06, fully unleashed, would be like a sledge hammer ready to drop on the driver’s head.

Yeah. Get a caterham.

Although there is an atom with a windscreen, I don’t believe they sell them with other weather equipment:
